Planning submitted for House of Fraser, Bournemouth

Shore Architecture and Pure Town Planning have recently submitted a planning application for the redevelopment and conversion of The former House of Fraser in Bournemouth town centre. The landmark shop was the oldest of Bournemouth’s department stores, having first opened in 1871. Our scheme is in place to redevelop the disused House of Fraser department store in Old Christchurch Road, along with Belfast House and Gervis Hall in Gervis Place. The mixed-use scheme consists of 10 commercial units and student accommodation consisting of 129 rooms.

We have re-designed the building carefully to provide the students with access to a range of shared facilities, including private and group study spaces, cinema rooms, a gym, common room and music room, whilst retaining the historical features within the building such as the stairways and windows. The scheme was recently featured in the Dorset Echo, ‘Huge plans to convert House of Fraser in Bournemouth town centre’.
